KNOXVILLE IN-HOME NEWBORN SESSIONS

When I come to your home to capture these precious moments with your baby I want you to feel as comfortable as possible, so I've gathered some info about my in-home lifestyle newborn sessions here!

First I put your due date in my calendar, and together we schedule your session on a date that is 7-14 days after your due date, keeping in mind that this date is flexible. I typically schedule these sessions on weekday mornings, and they can last for one to two hours. There's no pressure to rush and try to squeeze in "picture-perfect" moments. I'm there to capture it all at a relaxed pace for you and your family. Lifestyle sessions emphasize candid and honest photos, which I believe are the ones that have the power to take you back to this feeling

when you look at them for years to come.

Every baby is different, but I've found it helpful to feed them right before I arrive, and try to have them awake for around 45 minutes prior to the session start time. It's not a perfect formula, but it can help baby feel more calm and sleepy during the session!

When I arrive at your house I like to take a little tour to get a feel for the best naturally lit spots. My favorite places to take pictures are the nursery, living room, and master bedroom- but sometimes the best light hits in another room and that's ok! With your new sweet baby in your arms, it won't matter which room you're in. We can also take advantage of the front porch or another outdoor spot!

Throughout the session I'll take photos of baby by themselves, capturing all of the tiny details that you don't want to forget. I'll be guiding you and your family through natural and flattering poses, and catch the in-between moments as well. If baby needs to be fed or gets fussy, we simply take a break!

The number one question I get for any session is "what should we wear?" Solid, neutral colors are flattering and pair well with my editing style. It's always fun to mix in textures as well! (Think a cute linen or knit outfit on baby!) Try to stick to one pattern in the group, multiple patterns can be distracting. Pro tip for mom- find an outfit you love first, and base everyone else's off yours! As long as you're comfortable and love what you have on, your confidence will shine through! I don't provide props for lifestyle sessions, but if you have sentimental items or special props that you would like to use, I'm all for it!

I'm so happy that you've chosen me as your newborn photographer and I hope this post helps with any questions you have!
